So I was on Manrepeller.com reading some articles and I came across“Why Ugly Sneakers Are Back: A Theory” by contributing editor Pandora Sykes (wow love her name btw). It is an expose’ on the dad sneaker trend taking the fashion world by storm. To be honest, I wasn’t particularly eager to put these in my closet and wasn’t impressed when top designers like rappers, athletes and musicians with their dad-inspired footwear. But at the end of the post Sykes included some examples of the trend that I kinda fell in love with a little. One that stood out in particular was the pink Nike Air Max 95 with baby blue highlights. I WANT THIS SHOE and will probably end up getting it at some point, maybe after the next pay day. You can You can find these shoes on mytheresa.com and they retail 174 USD. When I cop them I’ll be sure to put them on all over my Insta!
Jinja is the Japanese word for shrine. Today for the first time I visited the Minamisawa Hikawa Shrine, a five minute walk from my apartment building. It had a serene and peaceful feeling and shrines are fast becoming my favorite places to take pictures. It was also such a beautiful experience to see some of the senior citizens in the community coming to the shrine to pray and pay their respects to their ancestors. I went with my friend Ruth and she was able to get some great shots of me! Check them out below!

P.S. – I will be getting my own domain very very very soon! I think its time to expand my blog and brand and I’ll definitely enjoy playing with different layouts 🙂
It’s always a good day when a gal like me gets some new gear and a couple of weekends ago I scored some new shoes while out shopping in Shibuya! The first pair is a pair of medium length (is there an actual term for these?) black boots from Zara. They were 9000 yen which is around 80 USD. They’re now the highest heel shoe I own in Japan and I hope to wear them sometime this fall (maybe out clubbing or to a fashion event!). The second pair I bought were the “Forrest Gump” Vintage Nike Cortez sneaker. In most color ways, I wouldn’t look twice at this shoe but the clean red, white and blue combination was irresistible to me. I was a little salty that all the other colors cost 8000 yen and this particular color way cost 2000 yen more but I bit the bullet and bought them. These will be the last shoes I buy for a while because of my trip to Bali! It’ll be my first time in Indonesia and I have to save some money to truly enjoy myself. I’ll be going for my Christmas vacation so in the meantime I’ll try to stay out of the thrift store 🙂 Check out my new purchases below!
The minute I saw these I knew I had to cop! I’ve been really into sneakers lately with the Vans Sk8-hi and Puma Suede Classic being some previous sneaker purchases. These are clean, versatile and I can’t wait to start incorporating them into my closet!
